Our dress net is 54 inches wide, you will need at least 2 metres of net for this tutu, depending on how full you want it.
Fold the netting across the width (it usually already comes folded in this way) so that you have a piece 2 metres long by 27 inches wide. Fold it in half again, so that the original width is now into quarters.
Cut along all of the folds so that you are left with 4 seperate pieces, 2 metres by 13.5 inches. These strips will become the 4 layers of your tutu.
Take 1 strip of the netting, join the shortest edges together at the sides, to make one big circle of net. Repeat step 4, three further times, so that all 4 layers are full circles.
Cut the elastic to fit around your waist, but pull it tighter so its stretched slightly, with about an inch extra to allow for seam allowances. Join the two ends of elastic together to make a waistband. (This should sit around your waist without falling off, or without being too tight and uncomfortable)
Put all of your circles of netting together, one inside another, with the side seams all together, and the wrong side of the seams all on the inside.
Join them all together with a big loose tacking stitch running around the top edge of the circle. Tie your two loose ends of thread together at one side and pull them outwards, gathering in the top edge of the skirt. Once the gathered edge matches the size of your elastic waistband, join the two together, with the rough edges of the net on the inside.
Your tutu is finished!!
